How to grow Kale microgreens step by step?
Materials Needed:
- High-quality kale seeds from MP SEEDS
- Growing tray
- Potting soil or a growing mat
- Spray bottle
- Another tray (for blackout time)
- Sunlight or grow lights
Step 1: Preparing the Seeds
- Rinse the seeds with clean water to remove any dust and impurities.
Step 2: Preparing the Tray
- Fill the tray with potting soil or use a growing mat.
- Evenly distribute the kale seeds on the surface of the soil or mat.
Step 3: Watering
- Gently mist the seeds with water to moisten them. Ensure the soil or mat is damp but not waterlogged.
Step 4: Blackout Time (3 Days)
- Cover the tray with another tray to ensure darkness for the first 3 days.
- Check the moisture level daily and mist with water if necessary.
Step 5: Light and Care (Remaining 5 Days)
- After 3 days, remove the cover and place the tray in a location with sunlight or under grow lights.
- Continue to mist with water regularly to maintain proper moisture.
- Ensure the microgreens receive at least 12-16 hours of light daily.
Step 6: Harvest (Day 8)
- The kale microgreens will be ready for harvest approximately 8 days after you start growing them.
- Use scissors to gently cut the microgreens just above the surface of the soil or mat.
- To ensure optimal preservation, we suggest avoiding overhead watering and withholding bottom-watering for 24 hours prior to packing.
