Description
General Information about Ebb and Flow Hydroponic Tray 60x120cm
The Ebb & Flow hydroponic tray is a professional-grade solution for commercial hydroponic setups and microgreens farms. Made from 3 mm thick, UV-resistant virgin plastic, the tray is exceptionally durable and built to withstand long-term use under grow lights and heavy irrigation cycles.
Designed with gutters leading into a deeper drainage point, the tray ensures safe and effective water management. At this drainage point, lead-throughs for water supply and drainage can be easily installed and connected directly to standard PVC couplings available in any hardware store.
The trays can be conveniently placed on racks or grow tables, creating a stable and waterproof growing surface.
- Delivered in one solid piece, ready to use.
- Each tray comes with a filter (sieve) and an irrigation connector included.
- On one side, the tray has designated spots for drilling holes to connect water supply and drainage lines as well as for installing filters. The holes are not pre-drilled — customers make them themselves according to their setup and required diameter. For best results, it is recommended to use a special drill bit for plastic.
Technical Parameters:
- Total tray length: 121.5 cm
- Total tray width: 61,7 cm
- Total tray height: 7,5 cm
- Inner height (after subtracting square supports): 5,6 cm
- Drainage connection area: 6 × 18 cm
- Height of element protruding below the base: 4 cm
How to Use EBB and Flow Hydroponic Tray 60x120cm?
Ebb & Flow System
In the Ebb & Flow system, the tray is connected through a lead-through with a tap to a pump that delivers the nutrient solution. At programmed times, the pump floods the tray, and once it switches off, the solution flows back (ebb), creating a natural oxygen exchange in the growing medium. This rhythmic flooding and draining stimulates strong root development, as oxygen is pushed out during flooding and drawn back in as the water recedes. To prevent accidental overflooding, one or more overflows can be installed. A circulating pump can be added in the reservoir to keep the nutrient solution continuously mixed and well-oxygenated. The recommended water height is maximum 1 cm, which ensures the roots are properly irrigated without soaking the seeds.
Drip Irrigation System
The tray can also be integrated into a drip irrigation setup. In this method, a water supply line with drippers is placed above the tray to deliver the nutrient solution directly to the plants. Excess water drains through a single lead-through, making this system simple to set up and efficient for controlling moisture levels in pots or containers placed on the tray.
Manual Watering System
Another option is to use the tray without drilling any holes, turning it into a manual watering system. In this setup, water or nutrient solution is poured directly into the tray, evenly irrigating all the plants at once. This method significantly saves time and effort, especially in smaller-scale or experimental growing environments, while still ensuring consistent hydration across the entire level. The recommended water height is maximum 1 cm, which allows you to irrigate the roots effectively without soaking the seeds.
